A 24 Hour in Washington DC Travel Guide

Washington DC. The capital of the US and the latest place that I’ve visited. If you watched my 4th of July vlog, you probably saw that I was in Washington DC! I spent the entire weekend in DC, but I’ve condensed this down to a 24 hour period of what you should do when you visit the city! I absolutely loved DC and have been there a ton before and hope to go back up again soon! If you’re interested in the vlog, you can watch it at the bottom of this post! I always love coming to DC, so I wanted to share my DC Travel Guide with you today!

Where to Stay: The Mandarin Oriental  DC

If you’ve been following my Instagram, you’ve been unable to miss me tagging the Mandarin Oriental in all of my posts. It is impossible to miss because I absolutely adore the hotel much more than I do most others. I’ve been to this specific hotel before on recent trips to DC and I don’t think my trips to DC wouldn’t be the same without a stay here. They have an amazingly created hotel with an amazing spa, pool, fitness area, food, and the rooms are spectacular. Jordan Taylor C - A 24 Hour in Washington DC Travel Guide

What To Do: Late Night Slow Shutter Shots of the Mall

Jordan Taylor C - A 24 Hour in Washington DC Travel Guide

I’m never one who does that well with slow shutter photos or testing out the different settings on my camera, but when I was at the WWII Memorial on the National Mall, I knew I had to test out the slow shutter options on my camera. These photos couldn’t  have come out better and if you have 24 hours to spend in DC, you have to go to the monuments at night and take photos like this. I do recommend a tripod because I know I took a lot that were quite shaky because I didn’t have one with me, but having patience really paid off with these photos.

Where to Shop:

The Georgetown Nike Store/ Georgetown Period

You all know that my fitness routine has been intense since this summer started. I love working out. Okay that’s a lie. I hate working out, but I love the results. So hitting up the 3 floor Nike store in Georgetown was right up my alley. It reminds me of the one in Atlanta and I loved everything I found there. The staff is super helpful and all quite friendly, plus in the Georgetown area, it’s impossible not to find a store that you love. Georgetown is a really rich area and the area right off M Street has everything you need from Georgetown Cupcakes to a giant H&M store.  Jordan Taylor C - A 24 Hour in Washington DC Travel Guide

The Tanger Outlet @ National Harbour

Who doesn’t love a good outlet mall? Okay well, this outlet isn’t that much discount as much shopping center. Nevertheless, it is in a great area right next to the National Harbour. I popped into the Tanger Outlet at the National Harbour during my weekend. If you’re looking for a good, reasonably not people-filled area of Washington DC to go to during your 24 hour period in DC, this is the place you need to hit. There’s a Coach boutique, Charlotte Russe, Theory, and so much more here.

This travel guide may not have been as intensive as the ones from London or Amsterdam, but nevertheless, it is a pretty decent set of things for you to do in 24 hours in DC! Travel by car or walk so you can get around quickly and maybe pop into Nando’s or Vapiano’s for dinner!! I didn’t have time to pop into my favourite restaurants, but those are places you have to visit!!

  • After watching a marathon of Scandal on Netflix, I really want to go to DC. It would be so amazing to visit some historical places. It always looks so beautiful in pictures and movies, and now I’m even more motivated to go! Thanks for sharing!
